Notice to SHO on Sexual Harassment plan against cricketer-Read

LAHORE: Additional District and Sessions Judge Nauman Muhammad Naeem on Monday issued a notice to the Naseerabad station house officer (SHO) on a petition filed by a woman seeking registration of a criminal case against Pakistan national cricket team captain Babar Azam.

Hamiza Mukhtar, the petitioner, through her counsel, contended that she filed an application with the SHO concerned and the capital city police officer (CCPO) as well for the registration of an FIR against Mr Azam on charges of sexual harassment and fraud.

However, she said the police did not entertain her application. The judge sought a reply from the SHO by Dec 5.

A couple of days ago, the woman had also held a press conference where she leveled serious allegations against the national cricketer.

BAIL: A sessions court on Monday granted pre-arrest bail to a man who while driving a car allegedly ran over a traffic warden after being signalled to stop for a violation near Jail Road.

Shadman police had registered an FIR against the “unidentified” car driver on the complaint of warden Waseem.

The suspect, later identified as Umair Ali, a resident of Shah Jamal, appeared before the court along with his counsel.

The counsel argued that the petitioner was innocent and had been falsely implicated in the case by the complainant.

He said the petitioner belonged to a respectable family and would be humiliated in the eyes of the public if the police arrested him.

He said the petitioner was ready to join the investigation.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Rai Muhammad Khan Kharal granted bail to the petitioner and directed him to furnish bail bonds woth Rs50,000 with one surety in the like amount.

The judge also directed the petitioner to join the police investigation and appear before the court on Dec 10.
